Good News:
The Cost of the Ski trip is Going down...because of our awesome donors this year!!!
-The final day to sign up is next Sunday January 29th.
-The $$ is due on Feb 5 and there will also be a parent/details mtg that day.

I will give you the final cost on Sunday (so far it has gone down $20/person)
The Ski Trip is Feb 10-12 We will leave @ 2pm on Friday and return @ 6pm on Sunday!! Only a few spots left!!!! Sign up!!!

New Years Eve Party

Tomorrow is the New Years Eve Party.
Here are the details:
We will meet at the church @ 6pm
-Make sure you bring $20 for both the movie and bowling.
-Eat something before you come because if you don't you will not have anything to eat until we get to the Cramer's House. You may bring money to eat popcorn at the theater or food at the bowling alley. Either way, you will have to bring additional money for this.

The Plan:
Meet at the church @ 6:00pm
Go to see Alvin and the Chipmunks @ Carmike Cinema
Go Bowling @ 10pin from 9:30-11pm
Then go back to the Cramers for snacks, sparkling cider, and watch the ball drop!

This Sunday (Dec 11) we WILL be having Student Church at the Cramers @ 6pm
This will be the first time in a while so we have an AWESOME video lesson, worship, and some fun games and food to share with you guys! Plus a few Christmas activities.

Also, December 17 (Saturday) we will be leaving the church @ 2pm for Mikes Farm and our Christmas Dinner. Bring $20 this will pay for your dinner. If you want to pass the time while we wait bring a game or 2. I will have a football and a Frisbee to play with as well.

CAMP Mission

Starting in Sunday School on Sunday we will be using the "Underground Reality" DVD lessons of a group of teenagers who went to Vietnam on a mission trip. These lessons are awesome!

CAMP Mission August 15-17. Awesome Video Lessons start on Sunday for Sunday School. We will do a mission activity each day of camp.
Monday - meet @ 9am work at the Matthew 25 Center
Tuesday - meet @ 12noon work at the Good Shepherd Center in Wilmington
Wednesday - meet @ 10am to feed the Homeless at the Mercy House in Wilmington.
After we feed the homeless we will go to the beach for the remainder of the day.

Guys Camping Trip

May 26-28 all the guys are heading to Hanging Rock State Park to go camping for the weekend. This is a Thursday to Saturday. You will need to ask off of school for Friday the 27th. It will cost $15 per person. This will cover the cost of van and food! Sign up NOW if you are interested.

Ski Trip

This Friday @ 3pm we will be pulling out to attend the Annual FCBC Student Ministries Ski Trip. We are going to have a blast traveling to West Virginia and Skiing for the Day on Saturday. Make sure you guys bring some warm clothes (check the weather up there), a Bible, Pen, Sleeping Bag, and skiing clothes (coat, pants, gloves, and hat).
This is gonna be awesome.
--we are pulling out of the lot at 3 so be here 15 min early.
--Be sure to bring sleeping stuff: pillow and sleeping bag...if anyone needs one, I have extra...just let me know.

Each person is a part of our church. Some just can't make it to hear the worship, message, pray with others, etc. We can go and let them know how much we care by giving them a plate of cookies, offering them a huge smile, and praying for them this Christmas.

Camp this year will be at Alpine Ministries.
It looks like everyone that is going is signed up.

Be sure to take a look at the Alpine Ministries Web site for details and for what to bring.

We don't have a large group so this will allow us to really enjoy the activities they will have for us:
-Whitewater Rafting
-Caving
-High Ropes Course

The Cost will be $150...normally $215 - thanks to the donations from our church.

4th of July Cookout

There will be a cookout on Sunday July 4th!

It will be at Beth Murray's farm. If you need directions we can help you with that, it is very easy to get to in Burgaw.

The cookout will start @ 6pm
@ 7:30 we will leave to see the fireworks in Wilmington....this will give us plenty of time to find a good spot!
Fireworks start at 9:05pm
We will return to the church around 10pm.

Parents - please let me know if you can bring anything to this...we will need: sides, drinks, and desserts. Thanks!!

VBS

VBS goes from 6:15-9:00pm
We will be helping with the inflatables again this year.
The kids will enjoy 3 actvities throughout the night:

2. Bible Story
3. Activity time

Awesome Job at the 5k

As you all know we had competed in the Blueberry Fest 5k last weekend. It was awesome! Other than it being an extremely early morning, our church had a huge turnout. We had a great time running the race and cheering for each other. Everybody did an awesome job!

We had a great time on the battleship tonight watching The Wizard of Oz.

In the van on the ride back we found out that only several students could make it to the Zoo. And the few that signed up could not make it. The Zoo Trip has been canceled. If you were planning on going, and did not sign up or let Pastor Aaron know, we apologize for the inconvenience.

We have TONS of event we are planning for the summer so keep an eye out in the mail for our postcards and on this blog...we are gonna have an awesome summer together.

Summer is Coming!!

We have started our 2 week series called back to the basics. Next week we will finish it all up...WOW amazing a series that only lasted 2 weeks...haha
We studied the story of Jesus curing the man that was blind from birth in John 9.
What an awesome story of how God created the man so that he could show others the power of God. That man was born with a weakness, a handicap from birth and it was all to show glory to God!! Wow!! what limitations or apparent weaknesses do we have that we complain about or grumnble about? These are the very weaknesses that allow others to see God in us!!

Next week we will talk a little about our future. It is unsure, but Jesus knows it all...Awesome stuff!

Advice Against Temptation

Last nights worship concert was awesome! Praise God! I am now refreshed for the week. Thanks Central Baptist Church for hosting an awesome night!

Yesterday in Sunday School we tackled one of the more difficult problems of the Christian Life...Temptation. If you have blood in your body than you struggle with temptation. Each of us struggle with many of the same temptations and some of us have specific temptations that are very specific for us. Either way others deal with the same thing. Satan would want nothing more than for you to think that you are all alone. When you think this, he is winning. We are not alone.

Here are 2 ways to combat temptation:
1. Always remember, "Every Temptation is an Automatic Invitation to Prayer." When you get on your knees in the midst of a hard temptation, Satan will flee.
2. The second is to quote Scripture. Heres my fav!!
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will no tlet you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1Cor.10:13

-We will be running 2 miles (VERY slow) this Saturday, training for the Blueberry Festival 5K (3.1 miles)...meet at the Cramer's at 1:30pm.
**we will not meet downtown for the serpentarium due to the azalea festival...we will reschedule this event.

April 11
-Sunday School is at 11am in the back mobile unit!!
-Youth Church is normal time, normal place...6pm in the chapel
-There is a PARENT MEETING after evening youth church in the chapel.
Snacks are provided...please make sure your parents are there!!

Ski Trip to Winterplace, WV - February 19-21, 2010
**Make sure you sign up to hold your spot.

Skiers = $120 SnowBoarders = $135 note that this price will go down as our church donates to the trip!!

If you cannot afford the trip just let me know, there are people that are willing to help you go skiing this year.

Your cost includes: travel, breakfast on Sat and Sunday, lunch on Sat., ski rental, ski ticket, lodging. You will need to bring some $$ for food on the way up, the way back, and at the slope!!

This past Sunday night I kicked off a series on creation by discussing how big our God is and yet he cares for every one of us.

We mentioned things like if the earth were the size of a golf ball the sun would be 15' across. Does that not sound that big?

Well if earth were a golf ball and the sun were a school bus you could fill the entire school bus with golf balls. That's pretty big!

We didn't just talk about the sun...we talked about 4 stars in all.
Here's one more...Betelgeuse...we'll call it B.

B is 2 times as big as...not the sun...but the earths entire orbit around the sun. That is amazing! Imagine this with me for one minute. Get on a plane and fly to NYC and place the golf ball on the sidewalk outside of the empire state building, walk across the street, and look back at the ball. Imagine where you are on the golf ball. Now look up at the empire state building, and imagine 5 more on top of that. That is how big B is compared to earth. If earth were the size of a golf ball...you could fill the entire super dome with golf balls...3000 times...that is how big Betelgeuse is!!

And remember that there are Billions of gallaxies...and billions of stars...that we know of...all of them as massive as the next.

Now think about this. We look up at the sky every night and see the stars. We know they are massive and far away...but the same God that created the earth and the birds and people and the oceans and the mountains...the same God that formed the Bible...breathed out the stars. Ps.33:6 he didn't need to do anything but speak and all the stars proceeded from his mouth. Now that is amazing.

that same God made you...75 trillion cells each of which contains 6 feet of dna. If you were to take the DNA from your body and stretch it out you could go to the moon and back...175 times. Our God is amazing. Oh and by the way...did you know that the day you were conceived all of that DNA was contained in one cell. And that DNA contains every piece of information about you.

When you were 3 days old...in your mom that is...you were only 16cells and you could fit on the tip of a safety pin. For Real...And God knows what your personality is like, your smile, the color of your eyes, how many hairs you'll have...our God is Awesome!!

And that was just the first night...we will continue to add details about God's creation over the next 3 weeks...make sure your there!!!

Baseball Game this WEEK

The Baseball Game is Thursday instead of Friday!!!
Everyone...I made a huge boo boo bout the game this week. The Sharks play at home on Thursday and not friday. Soooooo we will be going to the game on Thursday and Sleeping over our house to Friday. We leave the church @ 5:30pm on Thursday Afternoon...we'll get there early!

Guys be ready to sleep in tents...AWESOME....girls just bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

Had a great time last night playing mafia.

-we will be helping with Vacation Bible School...dinner is served at 5pm Wed - Sat. We'll help with the blow up toys the kids will be jumping on!! woo hooo
-Next Week - July 17 and 18th We'll be going to a Wilmington Sharks Baseball Game and sleeping over our house probly watching all 6 Star Wars Movies...yay.

-The week after - July 25 - We will be going to Wet and Wild in Greensboro...more details to come

-Also, we will be going to the beach again so plan on bringing some sun screen this time!!

Our church also has a softball game tonight so I won't be able to stay long at Andy's this time around, but I will be there to eat a burger at 5pm...Anybody want to meet there at 5??

Also, this weekend we are going to the Zoo on Saturday. ALL day 7am-9pm.

Summer is Coming

To everyone looking forward to the end of the school year!!! We have a ton of stuff planned for the summer. You have to keep an eye out for postcards in the mail. I'll be updating this blog with info about summer activities as well. But the best way to know whats happening is by attending Sunday School on Sunday's @ 10:30 and Student Church Sunday's @ 6:00pm.

Each week this summer we will be meeting at my house (pastor aaron) for Student Church (this means we will also be able to play volleyball, hang out, play ping pong, play Wii, etc.) ALL SUMMER LONG!!!!

Cant wait for everyone to be done with school!!

Stress!
It is without a doubt the most handicapping element of the teenagers life. Stress about school, parents, jobs, friends, relationships, college, etc. Everyone faces it and few deal with it properly. So how are we supposed to deal with stress?
The Bible says that we are not supposed to worry but "Seek first the kingdom of God...Matt 6:33" Can we really say that we seek first what God wants in our lives.

I think if we did this more we would probably have less stress. Our lives would not be filled with thinking about what will happen to us, but we will focus more on others and sharing Christ with others.

We just need to refocus our minds and thoughts to things of God...He will handel the rest!!

Hey Guys.
I'm pumped about the next couple of weeks. We've got a lot going on. Pray for Wendy and I as we get ready to move our stuff from our old house to the new house. Soon we'll be having parties over there!!

Easter Sunday there is NO Student Church. There isn't any evening church on Easter Sunday. We will pick it up on Sunday April 19th. We'll start a study in the book of Romans. This is an awesome book that deals with the teaching to Christians from one of the most knowledgable christians of all time. We'll make it simple and easy to apply. Come on out to check it out.

The ski trip was an awesome experience to get to know more students from Friendly. This youth ministry is teaching me all about what it means to be a student in todays culture. Some of the struggles and burdens our teens face in 2009 are harder than what a lot of adults face on an everyday basis.
Anytime you face a struggle don't forget what Psalm 1 says. Its talking about a person who loves God: "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."
This is all about knowing that hard times will come. Hard times will come. But God has aleady planted you deep in Him.
Try to rely on Him even in the hard times.
